Important things to know about the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

The Hyundai Tucson was completely redesigned last year, and now features more interior space and even more safety and connectivity technologies, all wrapped in a bold new design that stands out in the crowd. Thanks to all these improvements, the 2017 Hyundai Tucson has never been in a better position to meet the diverse and growing needs of young Canadian families.

Here are the important things you need to know about the 2017 Hyundai Tucson

It offers two engines

There are two engines available in the 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The first is a 2.0 liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers an impressive 164 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired to a six-speed automatic which, unlike a continuously variable transmission offered in many compact SUVs on the market, is more linear and delivers its power in a much more natural way.

The next available engine in the 2017 Hyundai Tucson lineup is a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 175 horsepower and an impressive 195 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the 2.0-liter engine which can be paired with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the 1.6L turbo engine is only available with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

Impressive fuel economy

The 2017 Hyundai Tucson, despite offering two powerful engines, features impressive fuel economy as well. With the 2.0-liter engine and front-wheel drive, the 2017 Tucson averages 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway and 9.0 liters per 100 kilometers combined while the all-wheel drive variant averages 10.2 liters per 100 kilometers combined.

The 1.6L turbo on the hand averages 9.9 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 8.5 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway for a combined fuel economy rating of 9.3 liters per 100 kilometers. Not bad for an all-wheel drive vehicle!

It is very spacious

The 2017 Hyundai Tucson shines when it comes to interior space as it offers plenty of space for your head and tons of legroom for everyone. It also features 877 liters of cargo space with all seats in place and 1,754 liters of cargo space with the rear seats folded down. Total passenger volume is 2,894 liters.

Safety is always a priority

There are a host of active safety technologies found in the 2017 Hyundai Tucson which are designed to prevent accidents from ever happening. These include blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning and autonomous emergency braking.
