The Hyundai Elantra remains unchanged for the 2015 year model and that’s a good thing. The Elantra possesses all the qualities a modern compact car should have: affordable, fuel efficient, beautiful, comfortable and pleasant to drive.

The exterior of the Elantra is visually stunning with its sloping front end, prominent grille, sweptback head lights, deeply carved side lines and bulging wheel arches.

The interior is nicely appointed with the use of quality materials throughout, supportive seats and ergonomically appropriate controls and instruments. Cabin space is appreciable with ample leg and hip room both in the front and in the back. The cargo space capacity at 420 L is unusually voluminous for a car this size.

The 2015 Elantra comes in four different trim levels: L, GL, GLS and Limited. Each can be ordered either as a four door sedan, a two door coupe or as a five door hatchback.

The L and GL versions are equipped with a 4 cylinder 1.8 L engine producing 148 hp and 131 lb.-ft of torque. This engine has an excellent fuel economy of 7.2/ 5.2 L per 100 km (city/highway). The GLS and Limited versions come with a four cylinder 2.0 L engine with direct fuel injection generating 173 hp and 154 lb.-ft of torque. The fuel economy for this engine is rated at 7.6/5.3 L per 100 km (city/highway). Both these engines can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed shiftable automatic transmission

The Elantra can be driven in three different modes: Comfort, Normal and Sport. Each mode differentially affects steering firmness according to driving preferences.

The Elantra has several safety features including four disc brakes with ABS, 7 airbags as well as traction and stability control systems. The car was given the IHHS (Insurance Institute Highway Safety) Top Safety Pick award for 2015.

Each Elantra trim level comes with different accessories and amenities. Even in the base Elantra, the L trim level, there’s a respectable list of standard features that include air conditioning, power door and windows locks, trip computer, Bluetooth technology, a USB port and a tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio and cruise controls. The top of the line Limited trim gets an impressive number of accessories and amenities such as 17” alloy wheels, a power sunroof, dual-zone automatic temperature controls, heated front and rear seats, a rearview camera and a 7 “ touch screen navigation system.

The Elantra is definitely a most desirable compact car. Come drive it today at Kitchener Hyundai!
